Boracay is a major tourism and vacation destination in
the Philippines. All throughout every year, there are
thousands of domestic and international tourists who
come by and spend several days of getaways in the
white-sand island. The strategic geographical location,
as well as the topography, significantly contributes in
making Boracay a sure-hit travel and vacation site
during all seasons.
In
the summer months of February to May, the western coast
of the island is more flocked. That is because the
prevailing weather system in the island is influenced by
the northeasterly trade winds, making the waters in the
western coast area of Boracay calmer and more ideal for
fun and family beach activities. On the contrary, during
the months, the eastern section of the island
experiences rough seas and strong winds, making the
beaches there very ideal and conducive for surfing,
kiting and other extreme sports and recreational
activities.
During the months of June to September, the weather
system takes a turn. The southwest monsoon brings in
rain and strong winds to Boracay. During the period, the
western portion, where the major beaches of White and
Bulabog Beaches are, becomes less conducive for
conventional beach activities. In the period, beaches in
the eastern part of the island tend to be calmer and
attract vacationers.
If
you are worrying about accommodations, there are many
options to take. Currently, there are over 300 different
hotels, beach resorts, rental apartments and other types
of accommodations to cater to numerous guests. Many of
the most popular accommodations are located at or near
White Beach, the major beach in Boracay. Other main and
minor beaches are ideal places to look for ideal and
suitable places where you could stay. If you aim for
seclusion and serenity, prefer the secluded
accommodations, mostly far from the bustling White
Beach, where parties abound and erupt every night.
Here are several other tips that will certainly help
make your Boracay vacation special, hassle-free and
truly enjoyable.
-
Book your reservations in advance. You can transact
accommodations and reservations for transportation
and accommodation online. Your travel agency will
also be of great help if you want to make sure
everything is fixed prior to your actual trip. Many
vacationers take chances and only find for
accommodations once they get to Boracay. This can
also be effective but during peak seasons, the task
may be truly difficult as many resorts and hotels
may already be fully booked before you even get to
their sites.
-
There are enough automated teller machines scattered
throughout the island. But if you want to make sure
you will not run out of cash, you may opt to carry
some before you fly to Boracay. Many accommodations
and restaurants are also accepting major credit
cards so bring along your plastic cash just to make
sure your vacation will not be spoiled by unexpected
cash shortage.
-
Restaurants in Boracay are serving the most
sumptuous meals and refreshing drinks. However, most
of them are too expensive, especially the theme and
specialized ones. If you are a little tight on
budget, you can check out food joints in D’Mall,
where there are several fast foods and small
eateries. Just check for the restaurant’s
cleanliness before enjoying your meals. You surely
do not want to make your tummy upset.
-
Bring all toiletries, clothes and personal items you
may need. You may be surprised how goods can
sometimes get overpriced in the island.
Lastly, be friendly and meet new people. Boracay is a
social hub where you could meet lots of new
acquaintances. However, as you stroll along and roam the
island, beware of pickpockets and robbers, who may not
be considerate enough to spare even your least valuable
possessions.
